Come to Meet the Teacher, say hello to old and new friends, and admire classrooms on August 16th, 2-4 p.m.  Class lists will be available by then and we will all be eager to say hello!  The ADS PTO will be selling ADS swag in the library, so stop by!

If you ordered pre-packaged school supplies earlier this spring or summer, they will be delivered and distributed by then.  If you still need to buy school supplies, please follow
the link on our website to the supply lists! Please bring those supplies to Meet the Teacher or on the first day of school.
Volunteers needed!
We need help filling potholes and doing other campus work the week before school starts. We would also GREATLY appreciate help moving furniture next Monday and Tuesday (Aug 6 & 7).  Please e-mail Taylor Young to coordinate.

Exciting news from the Lunch Program!

You spoke, and we listened!

For the 2018-2019 school year and beyond, Austin Discovery School has a new hot lunch partner. Haute Lunch, a local school lunch provider and catering company, will provide a hot lunch option to our community. We have been looking for a way to improve quality and efficiency of our hot lunch program, and Haute Lunch provides this opportunity.

We surveyed the ADS community last year to see what we could do to grow the lunch program and have it better serve the families and staff at ADS. The results of this poll were consistent and conclusive: The ADS community wanted to see our hot lunch program include more dietary choices, fresher foods, a larger variety of entrees and sides, less waste (packaging, etc.), and overall higher integrity of ingredients. We are so happy to have found a partner who can meet all of these requests!

Providing hot lunch for students and staff at ADS has been quite a journey. As a goal, the final iteration of our lunch program will be food made in-house with ingredients raised in our gardens by our students. Until we have the commercial facility necessary for this, we will continue to partner with providers who share our values and strive to provide the best food possible at an affordable price.

If you are a current participant of the ADS hot lunch program, we will migrate your account over to the new system and provide instruction soon. If you do not yet participate in ADS hot lunch, now is the perfect time to begin! Email with your questions and if you would like to enroll in the program. Ordering lunch can happen as frequently or infrequently as you like, but we do need to set up accounts.

Please note: Lunch ordering will still need to happen by the Monday prior to the week of service. For lunch the first week of school, please email us as soon as possible so we can make sure you will be able to order.

Thank you ADS!
