My name is Ashley Conti. I was born in little city called Rockford, IL, and I grew up in Bastrop, TX. Ten years ago, I moved to Austin, TX where I met my partner David, and began my life journey. We have two cats, and we love every minute of our life together! I’m so blessed to live in such a beautiful and exciting place! I consider myself to be a creative individual that appreciates and admires all the beauty that life has to offer. I see every day as an opportunity to learn something new and challenge myself. My other interests include biking, cooking, gardening, and watching movies. One really unique thing about me is that I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I decided to take on a management position outside of education. A year or so later, I realized that my heart was longing to get back into education, so I set out to begin my teaching journey. After searching several schools, I learned about ADS, and I knew it was the school for me! A few weeks later, I was given the opportunity to begin a long-term substitute position at ADS. I taught 5th grade science, and after an unexpected circumstance, I was invited to stay and finish out the year! My first year of teaching was challenging, but rewarding, and I’m so glad to have experienced it with the immaculate and supportive community at ADS. My experience working at ADS has helped me further my understanding of the importance of social/emotional learning, and I’m excited to put what I’ve learned to use this school year.
During my student teaching, I worked with a very diverse group of students from pre-k – 1st grade that fully prepared me to differentiate my teaching to accommodate every type of learner. I strive to provide a positive presence in the classroom that is supportive of all students. I’ve always dreamt of teaching 2nd grade, and I’m so glad that my dream has come true. I think it is going to be the best year yet!
