After teaching elementary school for 3 years in rural New Mexico, I decided to leave the classroom and pursue a career in social work in order to learn how to assist students and their families in navigating challenges both in and outside of the classroom. I spent one year doing social work at an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Austin after I graduated with my Master’s degree from UT and returned to the school setting to work at ADS in 2017.
I am passionate about social justice, creating healthy relationships, using a strengths-based approach while empowering students to foster resiliency, use trauma-informed practices, and providing group counseling on a variety of topics. I love serving as a bridge between students, families, teachers, and community members. Please reach out with any questions, concerns, or needs!
Outside of work, I live with my husband, Thomas, and our dogs, Moose and Winnie. I love spending time outside, eating tacos for every meal, bike rides, making pottery, and reading.
