Jon has been a pretty jolly Austinite for over 25 years. Born in Houston, he has 3 siblings, 12 nieces and nephews, and is the proud bio-dad of Max, Milo, and Millie. After participating in the Shakespeare at Winedale program through the University of Texas in the 1990's, Jon found his passion for theatre ignited. He's performed or directed in plays all over the city with groups such as Austin Shakespeare, the Rude Mechanicals, Boxtree Players, and Zachary Scott Theatre, where he also taught for over six years as the Assistant Director of Zach's Performing Arts School. After a fun, challenging detour at Westlake High School teaching English and Speech/Debate (yowzuh!) as well as a 14-month stint teaching English to native Chinese speakers in Taiwan (double yowzuh!!), Jon is thrilled to return to instructing theatre at Austin Discovery School. When not dreaming up fun plays to direct or powerful novels to adapt for film, Jon can be found writing music (he's an avid songwriter), watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead (he must confess to being hooked), or solving crossword puzzles. He looks forward to a great year of risk and play at ADS!
