To give you a little background, I have a B.S. Degree from University of Massachusetts with a major in Physical Education. However, I found my true passion when I walked into the doors of ADS 12 years ago when my son was 5. I have been with ADS ever since! For my first 5 years working at ADS I was the school's Behavior Specialist/Interventionist. For the next 6 years at ADS I helped create and implement our wonderful PE program as a PE teacher. Because I have such a passion for the social and emotional well being of students, last year I jumped back into my first love working with the SEL team.
I am certified in Special Education (EC-12), Physical Education (EC-12), Endorsed (through Region XIII) as a Behavioral Coach and Mediator. I was also on the Restorative Practices committee/team. I first discovered a love for conflict resolution when I was the After-school Leader at Austin Montessori school. I then took that experience and passion into a middle school in Vermont, working one-on-one with a developmentally challenged student and eventually found my way to ADS. I was also recently a presenter at the Austin School Garden Network Conference, "Cultivating Wellness."
I am originally from Massachusetts! I am a die hard Red Sox fan. I am married to a writer (20+ years) and I have a 17 year old son who went through ADS up to 6th grade. I enjoy animals, nature, reading, star gazing, blogging, dancing, jogging, swimming, and summertime fun. On a personal note, I am an author and blogger.
