Project Based Learning

Project-Based Learning refers to the teaching strategy whereby teachers use real-life problems or questions to engage students in multi-subject explorations. By learning through projects, students are engaged in learning and challenged to use executive functioning skills such as research, organization, analysis and time management.
Projects will look differently in each grade-level as students master more basic skills, gain a deeper understanding of project work, and master collaborative work as well as gain independence in the classroom. Typically, K/1 classrooms will introduce project work through whole class projects or units of study, with upper grade classes engaging in individual or even whole year projects.
